Issues
Youth navigate a wide variety of personal, social, emotional, and academic milestones throughout childhood and adolescence, and are expected to do so while balancing rapid biological, social, and academic transitions. At times, these experiences can feel overwhelming or exceed the tools they have available to cope with and effectively manage expectations, making the path forward feel confusing or uncertain.
Every youth is unique in their strengths, challenges, and experiences, and I use a holistic, flexible, client-centred approach throughout the therapeutic and assessment process to honour each client’s unique needs and goals. I aim to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where youth can explore and better understand their feelings, thoughts, behaviours, and experiences. I strive to make therapy and assessment collaborative processes through which clients can learn more about themselves while developing practical skills and meaningful insights that help them navigate challenges and build a fulfilling and valued life.
I am a PhD candidate working towards registration as a Psychologist under the supervision of Dr. Kristy Boughton. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology from the University of Guelph and am currently completing my PhD in the same specialty. Over the past four years, I have gained experience providing supervised therapy and assessment services at the Maplewoods Centre for Family Therapy and Child Psychology, the Waterloo Regional District School Board, and here at Reflections Mental Health Group. Through these experiences, I have supported youth in navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, OCD, experiences of trauma, emotional dysregulation, and social challenges.
In my downtime, movement and art are important parts of my life and are some of my favourite ways to express myself, unwind, and make space for creativity outside of work. I danced competitively for 20 years and founded the University of Guelph’s competitive tap team, the Guelph Tap Pak!
