Individual therapy for:

Types of Therapy

Issues

Sometimes clients believe that therapy won’t work for them because  of past experiences or what they have seen in media.  I like to get creative to think about ways to make the therapy environment work for each unique person. If something doesn’t work at first, then that means we haven’t found the right thing for you… yet. Clients and their families often come to me confused or hopeless. They describe feeling like they have so many problems that it will be difficult and time consuming to see improvements. It is important to me that clients start to feel like their struggles are explainable, more common than they think, and allow them to simplify what is going on for them. I use my openness and sincerity to help people be understanding and patient with themselves, which allows them to make small changes that have a big impact. There are many types of therapy and each person is different, so it is important to me that people see therapy and me as flexible and made to fit what is important to them.

I am a Registered Psychologist and a Queen’s University graduate with a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. Before working in private clinics, I spent 10 years working in hospital and community mental health. I have worked in McMaster Children’s Hospital’s Inpatient and Outpatient Mental Health Services treating and assessing clients with depression, anxiety, trauma experiences, autism spectrum disorder, personality disorders diagnoses, and psychotic disorders. I have also worked with children under 6, run community eating support groups, and worked within school settings.

Being from Newfoundland, I love being outdoors, especially hiking with my dog in new trails and paddle boarding. I also love watching reality television and I am not ashamed to admit it!
